MORGAN’S WEEKLY MUSIC REVIEW

DID ANYONE KNOW MYA CAME OUT WITH AN ALBUM????
3/28/2012

Apparently the 32 year old R&B singer came out with an album with a witty concept called K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sexy and Simple). Its a big album in Japan but she is from American. For someone who is in the English speaking American Music Market, she should have more promotion for this album in America. I like Mya but I don't think she should disappear, especially for someone who is on EMI.

MORGAN WEEKLY MUSIC REVIEW

It the classic story of boy meets girl, boy breaks girl’s heart and girl decides to become a marine? I honestly am a little confused behind the pseudo Rihanna’s battleship or “GO HARD” meets the teenage melodrama that is Katy Perry’s new music video for “Part of Me” I have heard that Katy Perry and Rihanna are friends (being that I don’t know either of them personally). And they probably do all the things friends do, like share images and video concepts?  I really like Katy Perry but ever since E.T. and this video, I feel like she is losing a little of herself in her music. The E.T. music video I mistake for a Lady Gaga video. THAT’S NOT GOOD. When I see a musician I want to listen to them for their unique take on life. I don’t want to see the same image, video concept, dance and sound the same. WTFrank Ocean, are ya doing girl? I cant speak for the rest of the world but I loved the sassy and spunky Katy Perry in “Last Friday Night” and “Ur So Gay”. This is a great tribute to the U.S. troops if that is what you were going for.
Almost the same video.

MORGAN’S WEEKLY MUSIC REVIEW

A new record from R&B superstar Ashanti called “Woman You Love” off her Braveheart album is a great comeback for the singer who has been on a two year hiatus. While on her hiatus, Ashanti stated her own label Written Entertainment after departing from Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. Her new song features rapper Busta Rhymes. She states in an interview that with her new label, she wanted to hire new and upcoming producers and songwriters. This definitely helped because her new song sounds amazing. The beat should make her musical peers like Beyonce and Rihanna want to take note. The chorus and hook melody is catchy. Her new image seems more like her. She looks like she is taking chances with her image, where as with Murder Inc. she was made to look like every pop princess already out. Now she looks different and she has her own identity. There is no one out now that looks like Ashanti right now.  I wish this was promoted more. I wish this song got more airplay because it has a great hook, great beat and great musicians. As someone who was not a fan of Ashanti at all during the “Baby, Baby, Baby” phase in her career, it must be an amazing song for me to take time out my day for an artist I did not like.
